TO
PROSPECTIVE FUNDRAISERS
Throughout
the year people are asked to contribute time and again. We appreciate
your desire to help the homeless critters in our care and want to provide
a comfort level to prospective donors about your fundraiser.
If you
choose to raise money for the homeless pets sheltered at the SPCA of
Central Florida, you must first fill out the Special
Event Proposal and Agreement Form. This form can then be faxed to
the contact and number listed. When you've been approved your name and
contact information will be posted in the special section for donors.
(Please note: the use of our name and/or logo for a fundraiser without
prior, written consent is a violation of Florida law.)
Here
are a few quick tips to help you:
- The
completed Special
Event Proposal and Agreement Form must be submitted at least six
(6) weeks prior to advertising the event. (We promise to answer
your request within seven working days!)
- The
criteria apply to all locations of the SPCA of Central Florida.
- The
SPCA of Central Florida should be the only animal welfare beneficiary
of your event. (It will eliminate confusion with other rescue groups!)
- The
SPCA of Central Florida is not the sponsor but the "beneficiary"
of the event.
- The
event must support the mission of the organization. (Anything that
promotes breeding or the sale of animals will not be sanctioned. The
SPCA of Central Florida reserves the right to determine what is not
in keeping with our mission.)
- Copy
for all materials - brochures, posters, tee shirts, premiums or educational
literature - must be presented for approval at least five (5) working
days prior to printing or release. (This will insure we're always
sending a consistent message to the community.)
- Read
the statements on the agreement form carefully. It is up to you to
understand the federal, state and local laws governing fundraising.
(Remember, the SPCA of Central Florida cannot bear any liability
or responsibility for your event.)
- The
State of Florida requires a disclaimer on all materials asking for
a donation for a charity. The following must appear with CAPS as indicated
below. Though the state is not specific about the size of the font,
the disclaimer should be legible.
"A
COPY OF THE OFFICIAL REGISTRATION AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION MAY BE
OBTAINED FROM THE DIVISION OF CONSUMER SERVICES BY CALLING TOLL-FREE
1-800-435-7352 WITHIN THE STATE. REGISTRATION DOES NOT IMPLY ENDORSEMENT,
APPROVAL OR RECOMMENDATION BY THE STATE. Florida Registration-03637.
No fees are paid to professional fund-raising consultant or solicitor.
100% of the contributions received benefit the SPCA of Central Florida."
- The
logo for the SPCA of Central Florida or any of its events cannot be
duplicated without expressed, written consent and can never be altered
either by color, font or image.
- Events
need to be registered each year. Do not assume approval.
- Approval
of an event does not imply endorsement of a product or service by
the SPCA of Central Florida.
Here's
what we'll do for you:
- Provide
a letter authorizing your event and validating your efforts (and
heart!) for our community.
- Allow
the use of our logo for the term of the event. (Logo will be provided
via email in jpg format.)
- Answer
questions and provide information about the organization to support
your fundraiser with the facts your donors will want to know.
- Offer
information on event planning and provide direction.
