Well
it only happens once a year and when it does
The SPCA of Central
Florida knows how to throw a fabulous party!
On
March 18th, OFurball - SPCAs auction spectacular, flooded
the grounds at SeaWorld Orlando Ports of Call raising more than $105,000.
Individuals came early to set their sites and their bids on the more
than three hundred items, all graciously donated by charitable businesses,
board members and volunteers in, around, and about the Orlando area.
The silent auction had something for everyone on your list: a new bed
for Fluffy or Rover, a trip to the zoo for you and the little ones,
dinner for eight at Dardens Culinary Center, and even a wedding
band, just in case you felt inspired to get hitched before the night
was through!
After
perusing all of the fabulous auction items, OFurball guests were
whisked away to the Pets Ahoy show. Joel Slaven, the Head
Animal Trainer at Pets Ahoy continues year after year to
pull out all of the stops and present an amazing animal show. It is
a joy to see first hand the overwhelming results of an SPCA shelter
dog or cat, given time, love and training then turn out to be a local
Orlando star. Pets Ahoy is a sight that leaves everyone
smiling a little brighter and eyes a little misty after their final
performance. OFurball wouldnt be nearly so furry without
Pets Ahoy, the SPCA of Central Florida is so fortunate to
have Joel and his gang promoting responsible human behavior towards
animals.
Back at
Ports of Call and amidst the frenzied bidding and shopping, OFurball
guests enjoyed the toe tapping music of Shenanigans throughout
the evening. Everyone nibbled and noshed to their hearts desire
on the fabulous hors doeuvres whipped up by SeaWorlds Catering
Department. As all good things must come to an end, OFurball guests
enjoyed dessert and the talented dancers from The Watters School of
Irish Dancing.
As the
music drifts off in the distance we would like to take this time to
share our thanks to our wonderful sponsors!"
